Can I use my phone or tablet for telehealth sessions?
Yes, you can use your phone or tablet for virtual sessions. Just ensure you have a stable internet connection and a private, quiet space where you won't be interrupted.
Can I record my sessions?
No. In Illinois, recording sessions is not allowed without the consent of both you and your therapist, as it is a two-party consent state. If you believe recording would be helpful, please discuss it with your therapist to explore your options and understand the legal and ethical considerations.
Can I have a session from anywhere, or do I need to be in a specific location?
You can have a telehealth session from anywhere as long as you have a stable internet connection and in the same state your provider is located in. It's also important to be in a location where you feel comfortable discussing personal matters without distractions or concerns about privacy.
Can I text my therapist between sessions?
This practice is not text-based counseling, so your therapist will have specific boundaries regarding communication. Additionally, please be aware that texts are not private and secure, so it’s important not to share sensitive information this way. We suggest messaging through our HIPAA compliant messaging platform.
