Jaclyn Driscoll
MA MFT
As a therapist working with college students, I focus on nurturing the vital relationship you have with yourself—a connection often strained by academic pressures, social expectations, and personal growth challenges. My goal is to help you learn to listen to, trust, and care for yourself, fostering self-awareness and respect that can positively impact your college experience and beyond.
Understanding and expressing emotions is crucial during this transformative time in your life. Just as you follow your academic interests, your emotions can guide you toward what's meaningful and safe. I'll help you embrace these feelings without judgment, leading to a deeper understanding of yourself and your aspirations. Developing skills to communicate your emotions, needs, fears, and boundaries effectively is essential for building healthy relationships with roommates, classmates, romantic partners, and family members.
College life can present various obstacles to contentment in relationships, such as homesickness, academic stress, or navigating new social dynamics. The insights and tools gained from our sessions can benefit you not only in your current situation but also in your future personal and professional relationships.
I'm committed to creating a culturally sensitive, warm, and inclusive environment where you can express yourself freely and feel truly heard. Recognizing that each student's journey is unique, I strive to create a collaborative space that balances comfort and growth, laughter and tears, and connection and boundaries.
Using approaches like Experiential Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy, I employ a "here and now" method to help you work through challenging emotions. We'll explore how societal expectations and campus culture influence your life, empowering you to challenge unhelpful narratives and embrace personal values that align with your authentic self.
My aim is to equip you with the ability to shape your college relationships and experiences through intentional time management, active listening, and effective communication. Together, we can work towards stronger, more fulfilling connections and a greater sense of contentment in your college life and beyond.
